Amazing Phuket

Hello everyone! I would like first to apologize for the lack of post, as I promised I was going to even write about my first leave back at home but unfortunately some situations came by and I was unable to write often as I was doing. I promise to keep you update of what’s going to happen now in my new journey, yes, I might leave my wonderful ‘Emirates’ experience soon. Some details will be posted very shortly, for now let’s enjoy my Phuket gallery!

PHUKET_______________

My very last layover in which I bid for it and got it twice, was Phuket. I was indeed very excited to work this flight, although I was pretty down and sad. Phuket flight was right after my first leave, therefore I was (or I think I was) a little depressed of leaving home, again. I thought of resigning, I started to search for a new job, I was constantly crying over night. I asked a friend who’s been working for Emirates some years as Cabin Crew Supervisor “When this feeling will go away?” he replied- “It would never go away..” I decided to put a side the ‘feelings’ and just work and enjoy my job on these following layovers. Phuket helped me Continue reading

The City of a Hundred Spires

Prague, Czech Republic

Prague; one of the most beautiful cities of the world and I had the pleasure of finally visiting it, twice! Before I commence sharing my journey, I would like to dedicate this post to Renata from Czech Republic, Thank you so much for having the initiative of inviting me to walk around your city, it was more than a pleasure.  Your wings will be spread soon, I’ll see you in the sky!

The flight was extremely exhausting. Prague peeps like to drink and a lot, thus the entire flight was very busy. We arrived at almost 1pm of the afternoon really tired. I arrived at the hotel with my eyes rolling back. Yet, I managed to text back to this wonderful girl who follows me on my blog. She wrote me, inviting me to walk around the city and to meet me. I don’t tend to do this, in both ways it could be dangerous. I mean, I could be ‘someone else’ or she could have been some ‘guy with bad intentions’ however, she gave me a trust feeling and also we were going to meet at the same hotel I was staying, so It was pretty safe. I told my mom and boyfriend and went down straight to the lobby. She was already waiting for me, she was very lovely and beautiful. We start with a laugh realizing I forgot to bring boots, it was winter already and I had sandals! Jesus Christ! We took the subway and arrived to the city where all the shops where at. It took me more than 2 hours to find a pair of boots, not to expensive and that I really liked it. Thank You Renata for being so patient.

While we’re walking, we talked about my experiences in Emirates, good and bad, she asked me about how’s living in Dubai, my new roommate, and more about the dislikes (pros and cons). She told me she wanted to join Emirates after finishing her MA, which I think is a Continue reading

Budapest, Hungary 💚

IMG_9107

Every time I think about Budapest I feel disappointed from the decision that I made on my layover. I never take walking tours, but when I do, I choose the worst one to mess up all my plans.  We arrived at 2pm at the hotel, late enough for the bus tours which all the crew that I met in the past have recommended me to booked it. Unfortunately, It was too late for these tours. Since it was my second week working 3 to 4 flights back to back with only one day off, I was so tired and also with jetlag to walk around to all the places that I wanted to visit alone. I mostly take a map and go solo. If I like the plan of the crew I’ll join, if not, then alone it  is. In this case one of the crew invited me to go with her for a  walking tour from a gentleman that offers tours for Emirates crew, so I thought..okay I guess (let me try it since I’m exhausted to navigate alone). I changed and meet up at the lobby. We were staying in the city, so we just walked more into it with a little bit of history and its beautiful architecture. I like tours that they say less history words and explanations, Why? Because I’m not in vacations. I’m there for only a day and a half or two, so I need to experienced the food, the light, sunset, the people, the views, everything. I love to take photos, and standing 5 to 7 mins in the same area talking and talking… It makes me anxious. This is why I prefer going solo with a map, except this time though! Which I don’t know what I was thinking of! I missed the Buda Castle which it was crossing the bridge near my hotel, the church, the liberty statue, the palace, a thermal bath etc. There’s a lot of things to do in Budapest and I know one day is not enough but I was hoping to at least visit the Buda Castle. The walking tour just gets you inside the city and its history, also by the Opera and Chain Bridge. I enjoyed yes, but crossing the bridge were all the sightseeing. I arrived late and tired of walking so I wasn’t able to continue alone. Although, I still recommend Budapest. It is a beautiful city, amazing architecture, food is delicious, many places to go and things to do, and best of all…is not expensive! This is what I did:

Swiss alpes! Zürich, Switzerland.

IMG_8842

Switzerland, another one checked from my bucket list. I was pretty lucky to have this flight at the last moment in my roster and for my luck, the crew was awesome as well. We arrived at 8:00pm at the hotel and we arranged to meet up at the lounge to organize what we were going to do in the morning. While we were chatting and sharing ideas, we ordered a Swiss Burger along with a local beer. I was so excited, I mean, I’ve always wanted to eat a Swiss burger, that I even asked the waitress impatiently “Is it really the burger from the Swiss cow? Local cow? The big cows?” She laugh and said “Yes, not imported. All meat is from our local Swiss cows.” The burger was juicy, thick and big. Totally what I was expecting. After eating our juicy delicious burger, we finally agreed to rent a car and drive to the Swiss Alps which was an hour and half of trip. We met at 8am next day, ate some quick breakfast and left, we were like 7 of us. This was a great and one of a life time crew opportunity, I’m not exaggerating. Most crew don’t even do anything and they see renting a car like a big deal. Fortunately, we all wanted to see the alps and have a wonderful road trip experience in beautiful Switzerland.

IMG_8824We passed the city which had some classic old architecture, the view of the farms, nature, green everywhere, the amazing mountains…the road trip was beautiful indeed. I totally recommend it, you will enjoy the amazing views and good sightseeing spots to take photos. After an hour or so, we arrived at Rigis Swiss Alps. A breathtaking panoramic view across the Alps along with one of the oldest mountain railways, enjoyed the surroundings of 3 different water bodies. It has well signposted hiking trails, perfect for walks and mountain hikes. The flora view is amazing, mountains, lakes etc. It will really delight you. This is also located at the central of Switzerland. The whole area offers hotels, restaurants, souvenirs shops, hiking in summer and skiing in the winter! We didn’t hike, we took the rack railway, recommended as well. You’ll enjoy the view.

These photos were on our way to Rigis

Lion Park at Johannesburg

First thing I thought when I saw I had Johannesburg was “Finally!! I can visit the famous Lion Park!!!” On the other hand my mom was sending me news of the woman who was killed by a lion on that same park. “Please, don’t do anything stupid, I know you like danger, take care of yourself..”- My mom replied to me several times when she knew I was going to visit the park…and my dad almost with a heart attack. I was convinced that even if no one of the crew wanted to visit the park, I was going by myself.  Fortunately, most of the crew that have been at Johannesburg didn’t have the opportunity to visit the park. So, we all made a group and scheduled an appointment for the trip. An ex-cabin crew from emirates have this ‘tour’ when they pick up and drop you at the park, and they also drive you into the lion safari. Continue reading

Exploring solo in Shanghai

me at ChinaSometimes when you are new in this lifestyle such as traveling or in the aviation industry, you tend to make friends and schedule tour trips with fellow colleagues. However, reality is another story. I’ve always traveled with someone; with a friend, travel buddy or with my boyfriend. I’ve tried to mixed with groups or try to like to do the things and plans they’ll do in certain layover. This lasted for only 1 month until I fully felt more independent and self-confident.

Most of the crew don’t go out. I’ve known crew being in a new place/city/country and they decide to stay-in.  They always say “You’ll understand after 3 year of flying” in the other hand, I’ve also known crew that have being flying more than those people had and have told me “Always go out, explore and enjoy life. When the body can’t anymore it will tell you. I never stay -in” So, I guess is how you feel of taking this job. As for me, this is temporary, at the end it would be all memories. That’s when I decided to explore a country in which I’d never been before…alone.  From the first time I grabbed a map and took control of my safety, directions and decisions and, had a good time alone. I noticed no one can’t stop me.

At this layover no one wanted to go out just to go shopping. If I, afraid of going alone to the places I wanted to visit, I’ll end up going shopping or doing nothing at the hotel. This is when you need to take a map and go out solo!

Shanghai, China

Shanghai is very challenging place to visit. Almost no one, or shall I say NO ONE speaks English. So if you don’t know Chinese be prepared. There’s no much of tourists, most of them where Asians…or all of them. The rest where business people. Okay so, first, I took a map and marked all the main interest I wanted to visit, which it was only like 3 of them. The concierge  Continue reading

Hello Singapore!

This past month I’m on reserve until the first week of June. So it’s been annoying because you don’t know your days off or if you’ll be on duty until last-minute or a day before, so you can’t  really set plans ahead or anything. So I was on home standby and before I went to bed I checked my roster and, YESSS ! I got a multisector! finally! My last multisector was in march when I had the famous 8 days trip to Bangkok-Sydney-Christchurch, the longest trip of Emirates. So I was so happy that I got this time another one and a good one as well. Singapore-Brisbane 4 days trip. Singapore always amazed me and I wanted to go to Brisbane to visit the Koala Sanctuary. I’m going to divide the post, the same I did with Bangkok-Sydney. So this one is for Singapore, oh Singapore!

Singapore a global financial centre with a tropical climate, multicultural population and also known by their beautiful buildings designs ahh! I just couldn’t wait to see the night life. We arrived in the afternoon and after a long 8hour flight I decided to have a power nap…yeah right. The power nap ended to be a long beauty sleep. I woke up at 7pm same day. All the crew had already been in Singapore so nobody really wanted to go out. I decided to grab a map and go to the Marina Bay alone which was near. It was beautiful, the buildings were so shiny at night, the environment of people having a good time, restaurants full of people, couples everywhere, live music, traditional food etc. I just sat enjoying the amazing view of the bay, took some photos and walked to the Merlion. I stayed at the Marina Bay ’till 11pm. Next day I had Brisbane flight departing at afternoon so I had plenty of time to rest. These are some of night photos of the Marina Bay:

Two days later after arriving back to Singapore from Brisbane, I was so tired. We arrived at in the morning, still I wanted to explore a little bit of Singapore plus enjoy the Marina Bay once again but in daylight. Most likely I don’t booked myself into tours, but since I was so tired for walking and reading maps, I just schedule a group tour guide and went in the afternoon. One of the crew, a so nice girl from Spain went with me too. It was a 3 hour tour, just some quick stops in some point of interest of the city, just what I was looking for. I even slept in the bus! haha oh God! But this is so handy when it comes for a short stay and want to see almost everything with short stops or when you’re tired of navigating.  These are some places we visited and enjoyed:

Safari at Nairobi, Kenya

I’m 2 post behind. I’ve been flying a lot, however I will not stop posting my adventures. But you can always follow me on Instagram for daily posts.

Now, let’s begin with Nairobi shall we!

Not many crew likes African flights however..I do! I like Africa, it’s a different culture, food and people. The first and only thing we did was going for the safari. Unfortunately we did not see much of animals and I was disappointed, although I really enjoyed the trip with the crew. Was a lovely flight coming in and out. Passengers are very lovely and the people in Nairobi same as well. I did wanted to see wild animals..more exotics but it’s nature and it’s something that we humans can’t control indeed. They took us into the wild very early in the morning when the heat of the sun is not that intense and the animals are out searching for food. For my luck, maybe the animals decided to sleep-in or something, all I watched was zebras..and more zebras. Beautiful indeed, but where were the lions at least? Well, I think everything happens for a reason because this month roster I have Johannesburg! There I can finally go to the lion park, cuddle the cubs and die in peace haha! Enjoy my photos!

Amazing Vienna, Austria

I loved this layover, honestly is one of the best and most beautiful cities I’ve visited so far. Vienna is an artistic city and most known of its beautiful Imperial palaces and museums. The first thing I did is to visit the Belvedere palace. The palace consists of two Baroque palaces, the Orangery, and the Palace Stabless in the country, also has this beautiful garden with maze. It is a must!

Here’s some photos of the beautiful Belvedere Palace and its garden view:

Beautiful artistic Belvedere palace:

Also visited the Russian Liberation Monument:

Some photos across the beautiful city. You just enjoy walking through these beautiful architectures:

IMG_6440After we finished walking we decided to eat in a restaurant and while eating we remembered we didn’t get to see the cathedral! So since it’s walking distance from our hotel, we ate pretty fast and went straight to St. Stephens Cathedral. I’m so sad I didn’t get to see this beauty during the day, I didn’t have the tripod so it was a little uncomfortable to take pictures also. I also visited inside the cathedral, it is beautiful, the structures, the architecture, everything! If you ever go to Vienna, please go to St. Stephens Cathedral, I promise you won’t regret it!

Here’s some pictures of St.Stephens Cathedral:

After a whole day of walking and enjoying Vienna, of course everything comes to an end..Hopefully I’ll come and visit this beautiful city again.

Cheers,

A nice day around Warsaw, Poland

Although pretty much cold and the weather was crazy! snowing, cloudy, sunny and then windy…but I really enjoyed Warsaw. Spend the day at the Old Town, I enjoyed their music, food and colors of all their beautiful buildings along with their antique classic architecture. Here’s a gallery of my lovely day walking around Warsaw, hope you enjoy it!

At the end, walking to the hotel, I finally had the experience to try the hot wine from a delicious pastry shop. I honestly..didn’t like it, too sweet for my taste but it warmed me on my way to the hotel. Greetings to all Polish reading and enjoying this post! Hope you all liked my gallery as well!

Un abrazo!
